A elegant line by Davis and by command of King Arthur, Excalibur is pointed towards the future and look forward to what's up ahead.

Oh man, TOO good! I'm going into overload over here. Quintessential shot of one of my favorite runs ever. Congrats!

So I have some cursory history with this piece, and it is in large part responsible for my 3 consecutive Excalibur Davis pages from the Excalibur Special #1. I spotted this on Ebay in the Spring of 2021 for an unreachable (for me) buy it now amount, it went unsold, and I reached out the seller, to see if we could come to a deal at a lower price. We weren't able to; but it sent me down the rabbit whole of looking all over CAF/Heritage etc. for Davis Excalibur art to justify a lower price, and or just ogle his beautiful work. In doing so I realized that RGL was selling his collection of Davis's Excalibur Special #1 pages, and while this amazing recreation/reinterpreation was far outside my means, I was able to manage some pages from the Special with RGL's willingness to accept time payments. Even ended up with 3 consecutive eventually, after securing one via Auction the following year. And so, seeing and failing to add this magnificent Davis, led me to my beautiful Davis Excalibur examples I now have. Small world. Congrats, and enjoy this stellar piece from Davis!

Thanks, but this is not that piece. This is a recreation directly from my friend Alan Davis, not a published piece. Congradulations on the Excalibur Special Edition pages!

The other from Ebay was a recreation/reinterpreation as well. RGL had it done in the early 2000's before he aquired the Original Sword is Drawn Poster Art which he still owns. So you had this done and acquired it directly from Alan recently, cool! It's gorgeous!

I found a link to the pencils to the other recreation, can't find an inked version, didn't save anything from the other auction. You can see he rotated the sword in King Arthur's hand in the one I saw. I should of noticed yours was different, or in actuality was more like the original in that regard. I see a 3 in the top right of yours, so perhaps this is the 3rd recreation, or 3rd overall Alan as done. I don't know; but it is oh so pretty! Congrats again.

I loved the poster as a kid. This recreation is beautiful beyond words and should be be framed in a wall for all to admire. Congratulations!
