Description

This is the second of six connecting covers masterfully drawn by Chris Brunner and colored by Rico Renzi. I love when these two team up because the result tends to be something magnificent.

This issue was published May 31st, 2023. One of my favorite things about Chris' art is he tends to do some wonderful preliminary work, which came with this cover. This cover was pieced together digitally from a couple boards. Brunner draws elements separately for some of the color separation process.

This DEEP CUTS series tells musical stories across several decades with a different interior artist on each issue. This issue brings us to Chicago in the 1920's.

The Jazz Age arrives and becomes driving beat of the Roaring 20's! Innovating not only music, but the whole of culture as well. Really nice hitting the thicker shades to paint the scene with more soul and mood.

I KNEW you had to have struck a deal for them! So beautiful, man! There's some really lovely technique here and I just love the added bits of cyan to give it some life.
