DescriptionJim Boum in Mexico, Sonora Express, page 7, Marijac (Jacques Dumas)Originally published in Coq-Hardi (supplément-magazine N°16 (1946)) and later remounted for ouest magazine far-west. Jacques Dumas was born in Paris in 1908. He started his career as a comics artist in the 1930s and used the pen name Marijac. His best known character in this period was Jim Boum, cowboy of the Far West, which appeared in Cœurs Vaillants (French language weekly newspaper for French children). During the war, he entered the Resistance and started the popular magazine Coq Hardi, where he created the series Les trois mousquetaires du maquis. In 1979, he received the Grand Prix de la ville d'Angoulême, the highest comics award of France. Social/Sharing |
