Description

Tim and Greg Hildebrandt�s major Star Wars project after their iconic Star Wars poster work came nearly two decades later in 1996 for the epic Shadows of the Empire trading card set. The brothers took on the ambitious project, painting one hundred illustrations depicting many highlight moments from the SOTE novel, comic book series and even the video game. They were able to visually tell a story of the �Movie without a movie� through their dazzling paintings.

This painting, used for SOTE trading card #91 shows Boba Fett blasting off 4-LOM�s arm while repelling the other bounty hunters who are after his precious cargo, Han in carbonite. The edge to edge acrylic painting is on 11� X 15� Masonite board. You can see two other SOTE paintings by the masters of light and color HERE and HERE .

Interesting thick impasto painting for the more bright colors. It has such a nice light reflection off Boba's armor. Done during the time when Star Wars hype was ramping up once again!

Yeah, the Hildebrandt brothers demonstrated their impressive brushwork using generous amount of acrylic on these paintings. Also, I think some of the texture was created with the underlying gesso before they brushed in the paints.
