I've been a fan of E-Man and Nova Kane, the awesome & fun characters created by writer Nick Cuti & artist Joe Staton at Charlton Comics in the mid 1970s, for quite some time. I've been thinking about getting an E-Man & Nova piece from Joe for a while now. Recently I had a couple of articles published by TwoMorrows, one of which was, approximately, about Cuti & Staton's other great Charlton character Mike Mauser, so I had some extra funds available. Last month I contacted Joe & Hilarie Staton about getting a commission. This artwork arrived in the mail yesterday. Joe did an incredible job.

Terrific reference to an absolutely wonderful comic that doesn't get the acclaim it deserves by an underappreciated comic artist. Congrats!

Wether it was Alter Ego or Comic Book Artist magazine, Staton provided great insight into the industry back then and enlightened us on the innerworkings of how much creativity came about when companies opened the door to new talents in the 70's. His E-Man was definitely one of his most notable works and this one shows Staton still has it.
