Description

From the opening page of Captain America 442, Blitzkrieg makes his final living appearance (killed off by the next page).

I was a big fan of the Contest of Champions series as a kid, so was happy to get one of these rare Blitzkrieg appearances.

Gruenwald killed off a dozen Latin American heroes (six named) off panel here, included another COC contestant, Defensor, who got even fewer chances than Blitzkrieg. Didn't like that Gruenwald did the same thing with Scourge, killing off so many cool D-list super-villains from the past.

The back of the art has a reduced size black and white photocopy, with the name "Syvia" written on it, while the art also says "Hoover/Sylvia" written in pencil, so I don't know if Danny Bulandi (credited inker) actually did the inks, or if it was an assistant. I can't find any credits for an inker with the last name "Sylvia" elsewhere.

Nice mid 90's armored knight costume era! Just a few issues before the Waid Garney run, so these guys were clearing the decks and tying up loose ends. It's the 90's style of art with equally shocking writing of death events!
