Description

Another great daily from the "Christy" storyline. I'm posting these in backwards order - so she'll just keep getting fatter (lol). Love the cast shadows in the first panel, the tilt of Mary's head in the second, and her hourglass figure in the third. A winner.

A standout first panel.  It gives you something you don't get as often as the other two panels, but it is done with that same loving manner and attention to the finer aspects of high class fashion.

The composition, perspective and overall attention to details in the first panel are a great example of what made Starr such a star! Just fabulous technique, and it sets us up for the organic beauty that follows in the following two panels!

Watching Christy get fatter will only serve to remind us of having watched Constance get older and fatter as time went on, so no big deal!

Hey!  Constance may have gotten older - but she never got fatter!  Also, she actually got prettier as the years progressed - Starr reverse aged her. lol. I'll post a first year daily featuring her soon.

I clearly remember noticing, because I was impressed with how subtly done it was, that she was heavier set in the neck area, almost like a double chin, to show she had put on weight as she aged and portray her as a good looking "woman of a certain age", as the old expression went.

Outstanding strip. I am enjoying that last panel the most.

Congrats on just another fine example in your collection.

Gorgeous!  Really clean inks, beautiful faces, compelling staging, and nicely spotted blacks in this daily

Leonard Starr was a rock star in the comic strip field. I wonder what he would have done with a comic book. Imagine Leonard Starr on the Avengers drawing the Black Widow and the Wasp...Or Gwen Stacey and MJ...Hmm?

In 1966, On Stage featured an actor who played a superhero on tv.  He had a costume and a cape and everything.  So that actually predates the first guy to ever draw photo-realistic superheroes (namely, Neal Adams) by about a year!
