DescriptionEddy Newell"The Endless 2012 11" x 17" Ink on paper Oh, this piece. This f*cking piece. I saw this in Ken Carter's CAF gallery maybe three years ago. I instantly loved it. Reached out to see if he was willing to sell it. He wasn't. Cool. I get it. Offered way more than it was worth. Still a no. With Ken's blessing, I checked back in every few months. Just making sure he knew I wanted this one if he ever decided to sell. After a bit, I finally got a hold of Eddy Newell himself and had him do a similar piece at less than I was offering to buy this one. I loved that other piece...but it just wasn't this one. So, I resumed annoying Ken. We had a couple of close misses, but it remained in his collection and not mine. I reached out to Eddy again and commissioned a few more pieces. Paid up front because the other piece went so seamlessly. Mistake. Two years in and Eddy still hasn't delivered on those other pieces and probably hasn't answered me in a year when I inquire. Now I have soured on Eddy's stuff because he beat me for a few hundred dollars. I actually reach out one more time to Eddy to see if he will answer me, he doesn't. Then, out of nowhere, Ken reaches out to me after not having talked for a bit. We knock out the details and I finally land this piece. Opening it up after all this time made me really happy. Do I feel better that Eddy stiffed me? Of course not. But, I feel really lucky to have gotten this piece from an awesome fellow collector done by a really talented artist whose work I still respect and admire. And who knows, maybe Eddy comes through somewhere down the road. Social/Sharing |

Beautifully captures all three of their natures, while the transitions between them are clear but not jarring. Great piece! Congrats on winning out in the end.
