Rowlandson’ and some indistinct numbers [1784?], in pencil. Thomas Rowlandson was an English artist and caricaturist of the Georgian Era, noted for his political satire and social observation. A prolific artist and printmaker, Rowlandson produced both individual social and political satires, as well as a large number of illustrations for novels, humorous books, and topographical works. Rowlandson also produced highly explicit erotica for a private clientele; this was never published publicly at the time and is now only found in a small number of collections. Social/Sharing |

A real look at what really went on at their high society parties and not the idealized prim and proper affairs they always push as the ideal. As a historical document, this tells us the truth that they partied hard!

Oh yeah a lot of fun was had in the Georgian times. It got a bit more prudish in Victorian times, but of course still happened. The 'fun times' didn't happen with the ladies, unless they were involved in threesomes. The courtesans were brought in.
There is a very large collection of Rowlandson erotic work in the Victoria & Albert museum. It's not on show, but you can view it either online, or in front of you if you request a pre booked visit. My wife was down there to view some Walter Crane illustrations the other week, not erotic items haha
