Description9-2022...Adding this Dave Gibbons piece to my collection is memorable for several different reasons. His artwork is terrific, the Flash is my favorite superhero, and when I first started to really collect comic books, my first "old" issue was Flash #286 with the first appearance of the Rainbow Raider. It is awesome to see so many great things in this piece. The detail of the fourth and sixth panel is cool because you can see the arc of the rainbow carry over even though it is interrupted by the fifth panel; very dynamic storytelling! I'm adding a comparison of how Carmine Infantino interpreted the scene in a section of near identical script in Flash #332.Social/Sharing |

You can see that they considered the word balloons part of the imagery, because they lead the eye along the path of the visuals. A very well planned page. Congrats!

Thanks Eric! It's tough to notice in the scan, but every word balloon is numbered in blue line, so Gibbons was vertainly very attentive to script... I'm sure it helped that he did the lettering himself! And it so cool how panel 5 is not completely enclosed, but the figures and word baloons help the eye to "complete" the frame.

Fun Flash crossover which further solidifies the Flash and GL connection throguh all generations of the characters. Gibbon's work is really clean despite being so complex and detailed. His run is a prime period for 80's Green Lantern fans and pages like this are highly sought after.

Agreed, Marcus! Flash and GL are an awesome team. I was amazed when this piece came up and am very happy that it's part of my collection.
