DescriptionNow here is a super fun, historically awesome, and physically giant piece of art. It struck me as being the perfect way to commemorate my new home. The California postcard aesthetic is so powerful, so iconic - the use of that imagery here is almost a no-brainer in retrospect - it's perfect. As is Bill Morrison's flawless execution. FROM THE PROGRAM "The cover was executed by Willardson and Associates, one of the hottest art studios in Los Angeles. For such clients as Disney, Touchstone, Uni-versal, and Hanna-Barbera, noted airbrush illustrator David Willardson and his associates Calvin Patton and Bill Morrison have created posters and other designs to help mold the images for such films as Dick Tracy, Little Mermaid, The Jetsons, and Raiders of the Lost Ark." Great moment in time and a wonderful piece of history captured. SDCC at that time was so accessible and really focused on comics and the industry of making comics.

That was my first ever SDCC and my first meeting with a number of my creative heroes including Will Eisner (and many more) whose Spirit leads off the piece and delights us to this very day, and Bill M, who drew it....

-Sensational- piece, ML! The postcard design is brilliant, and the base color scheme there ("California primal"?) is spot on; warm and inviting ("Wish You We're Here!"). Most importantly it allows for the central characters to spring off that cool blue, right at the viewer. It's stunning that -all- those characters were born in 1930 or 1940 and were celebrating big anniversaries together here on this gorgeous tribute. Love Cap's classic shield colors and Bugs' and Woody's original designs. Just brilliant! Congrats on the awesome pick up, as well as the new home environs! Some people go to great lengths to score good parking and lodging for SDCC, but this is next level, ML! Congrats! ;)
