DescriptionDan Brereton! Incredibly thrilled to post this cool, cool piece that features so many of the elements you’d want to see in an example of Dan’s work; the incredible color palette (which is -so- hard to capture in a scan), the femmes fatales, even a couple “turn to the camera, please” shots of our hero…But it’s the first panel (with its killer POV) that really takes my breath away here. The depth of it and how Dan uses his patented palette to interlock everything (like the clotheslines between the buildings) to brew a heady technichroma cocktail that adds both depth of field and a rich sense of place; the hot and muggy city where Orson Randall and his Confederates of the Curious are knee-deep in their current pulse-pounding adventure… and it starts with our hero running from a hail of gunfire! The swirling dervish of color Dan uses on the dresses of the women in that amazing second panel (with the streams of purple pulsing through the front right) is just… awesome. :) Over the moon to post a piece from this magical run of Iron Fist! Brereton work is the coolest! I'm a big fan, too, and have been looking for the right piece. Gorgeous color work, as he does. And the whole page is killer, but that first panel is magic. Great rooftop hero scene! Everyone was king fu fighting! Hiyaaaaa!

Incredible! Something straight out of the big screen with this page, plus who doesn't love chicks with guns! Big congrats

Great page! Always blown away by Dan's color sense. Can't tell you how much I wish that first panel was a full page splash. Wow!

Yes, I absolutely LOVE that Brereton placed the camera exactly where he did in the first panel. Perfect! I also love the solidity that the foreground building has. Brereton's color palette is exquisite here and I think my favourite panel is the second one, as it is a perfect representation of his style and technique, yet it also gives me a sense of it being artwork from a great 1940's era Fleischer cartoon! The bottom two panels also continue that animated feel, like I'm actually "watching" what's happening on the page rather than just looking at it. A fabulous addition to your already impressive collection, Jason. Kudos!

I find that a Brereton post close to Halloween is always quite appropriate as his color palette radiates the season like a radioactive pumpkin :)
That first establishing panel is exceptional but how can you not fall in love at first sight with these thicker, angry Chinese gals, complete with cigars and guns?
This is yellow exploitation at its very finest ;)

The roof, the roof, the roof is on fire
The roof, the roof, the roof is on fire
The roof, the roof, the roof is on fire
He don't watercolor, let acrylic colors burn
Burn Ed Brubaker, burn
Hello, my name is Orson Randall, I'm kung fu fight guy
I'm not old or new, but from K'un-L'un, they say, Immortalize
I don't know Nine-Fold, if Xao peeps be buggin' givin' props to you hoes, want me die
But I can take the heat 'cause I'm the other Shang Chi known as "Fist funky lines”
Yeah, I've hung with femme fatales, art to see a hail of gunfire
But if I Fractioned all these pages, I would stick with Brereton clothes lines
'Cause I'm kind of like Hired Heroes, always repping New York City
I'm the root of all that's Marvel, yea, that you can call irony
The roof, the roof, the roof is on fire
The roof, the roof, the roof is on fire
The roof, the roof, the roof is on fire
We don't watercolor, color of October burns
Burn in October, burn

Nice top to bottom page but love that fast panel! What a way to set things up, and Dan poured so much into the scenery - great mix of detail and colors. And then you got some lovely dangerous ladies to the right! AND a zoomed in shot of Mr. Rand! Yeah, I gotta look into a Brereton piece myself soon. Congrats!

I'm a big Orson fan so this is pure eye candy for me! Perfect match of tone and style for Brereton.
