DescriptionSerpieri has been working on Druuna stories for decades and apparently isn't quite done. On this page, she's lost in a sort of 17th century colonial land, and a native shows her the way to a seaside village. Druuna is well known for its erotic elements, but I was happy to get a page which can be enjoyed by general audiences. Serpieri's work process involves a pencil/ink drawing which he copies and then watercolors. I got both versions of this page and debated which of them to make the primary image for CAF. The fine lines are a little more obvious on the B&W version, so I featured it first. You can also see from the colored version how he works on quite a large sheet. But I cropped the margins off of the B&W version for better viewing of the art. I got these pages from Serpieri's art dealer at Lake Como Comic Art Festival. He was sitting in the booth as well and posed for a photo with his work. The dialogue on this page is: "...but what?" "Well, you know, it's not in my programming to give any more information right now. There's only one thing I can say: The term 'created' that you used isn't very appropriate on this world. Machines don't know how to create, see? But they know how to copy; they're very good at copying. Here's the village. Human construction sites. Yep, yep, uh-huh." "I see, but you can explain it better. From what you say, in this world you, me, those humans over there, we're all copies? Oh, no no, screw that! Me, I'm a real person in the flesh! And I'm really tired of clones, copies, and stuff like that." "Yeah, yeah. Uhm... I understand you, girl, and your deductions are interesting. Look: See that tall building at the base of that cliff? A very scary man lives there, and everyone thinks he's crazy. I think he's the one you should meet. Maybe he can give you, at least in part, the answers you're looking for. Yeah, and... he's more in keeping with your human nature." "But aren't you coming?" Social/Sharing |

This probably took Serpieri a lot more effort with so much more to consider mapping this village out while still providing some of his signature artistic traits.
