Description

Barye Phillips, the very talented and prolific illustrator was called upon by Signet Books to produce the covers for the wildly popular James Bond novels by Ian Fleming. Along with the phenomenal success of the movie franchise, these paperback books with the Barye Phillips covers became how readers discovered James Bond here in America. I bought all the Bond novels with these very covers and read them all as a teenager, and loved them! They have a very nostalgic place in my heart and I'm thrilled to add this cover art to my collection. Here is the Barye Phillips cover art to "Casino Royale" by Ian Fleming which is the very first of Bond's many adventures, published by Signet Books in 1960.

It's so good that they kept the signature on the published cover to make a point how important Barye is. Very stylish design to introduce us into the story of high rollers and spy intrigue and then the phenomenon that is James Bond.

Amazing - I read the paperback version of the book that used this image back when I was in 5th grade!
