Description

Barye Phillips, the very talented and prolific illustrator was called upon by Signet Books to produce the covers for the wildly popular James Bond novels by Ian Fleming. Along with the phenomenal success of the movie franchise, these paperback books with the Barye Phillips covers became how readers discovered James Bond here in America. I bought all the Bond novels with these very covers and read them all as a teenager, and loved them! They have a very nostalgic place in my heart and I'm thrilled to add this cover art to my collection. Here is the Barye Phillips cover art for "Dr. No" by Ian Fleming, which is one of James Bond's early adventures, and the one that started his movie career! Published by Signet Books in 1959.

I never associated an artist name with these small but elegant cover paintings. Color me both shaken and stirred.
