DescriptionTil Death Do Us Part - Kurt get the rings!!!Tis the season for weddings, as I prep for a friend’s wedding in Paris, I figured it was time to post another page from the concluding chapter of TIL DEATH DO US PART, X-Men Gold #30. The hyped up wedding of Kitty and Colossus, perfect as it should have been, we were all left at the altar; but it wasn’t a complete loss, we still got a promised X-Men wedding, just not Kitty and Colossus’s. Guggenheim’s story elements on previous chapters set up what should be an amazing event, that didn’t need any twists or turns. X-Men issues #30 work perfectly for a beautiful wedding (as seen in X-Men #30 1994, Jean and Scott, thank you Nicieza), sometimes it’s ok to deliver what is expected after a 35 plus year courtship from these two. But their story is still evolving and one can hope that they may still have a chance. Marquez’s art is gorgeously on point. The panels play nicely a quick beats of moments as they play out for the wedding setup. Peter introduces his sister/bridesmaid (Illyana) and best-man (Kurt) to the wedding officiant (Rabbi Yarkin). Kurt corrects an error to make sure the ceremony goes as expected and grabs the rings, as only a teleporter can. It’s a fun piece of interaction and use of his powers. Loving the detail Marquez does for character faces and the BAMFs. The emotion, posing, choice of angles on characters, especially their reactions is on the level of some of the best work I can recall (Asrar, Cassara, Coipel and Marquez are some recent favorite X artists that really know how to capture the emotion on a page). Then the music starts . . . your heart skips a beat of X-citement as the very long awaited ceremony properly starts. The many years of waiting have finally come to a . . . close? Will they or won’t they? Feel free to see my page of Kitty’s hand phase that will sadly clarify that answer. Social/Sharing |

Anna Marie (Rogue) and Remy (Gambit) who became the MR & MRS X for the series that followed soon after.

I guess issue #30 for X-Men is reserved for weddings! Very nice one with comedic timing of those sandwhiched panels.

I know we don't see Marquez's panel pages often as he does most digitally vs traditionally, but when we DO see, always a treat. He doesn't get enough credit for his storytelling chops and this is a great example. And fun :) Congrats!

Colossus wishes him and Nightcrawler could swap powers later today.
