Description

Batman Nine Lives is an Elsewhere Batman tale that reimagined Batman's world as a noir detective story told through the eyes of Dick Grayson, a hard-boiled private eye who is a prime suspect in the death of his client, Salina Kyle.

In this version of Gotham, Jim Gordon is still the Police Commissioner but his daughter Barbara works as Dick's secretary while trying to get a job as a crime-beat photographer.

This page by Dean Motter and Micheal Lark features a great scene between Babs and her Dad in which he tries to steer her toward a more conventional and safer life. The page is masterfully paced and features some great dialogue with my favorite exchange occurring in the third panel.
