DC Comics' Phantom Stranger is everyone's favorite enigmatic mystic, and one thing you can say about him is that he certainly knows how to make an entrance--and an exit!

From Phanny's back up feature in the 1980s series Saga of the Swamp Thing, this page features artwork from the underrated Dan Spiegle as the Stranger performs a teleportation rescue from a burning building. I especially appreciate the composition in the upper right corner, with the cape lending an ever so slight Art Nouveau-esque touch to the panel border.

Congrats on a great Spiegle pickup. The cape telepathic panel so innovative. Dan was the consummate artist, and he is not as appreciated by the art community as he should be.

Spiegle's layout is fantastic! For a supernatural character like Phantom Stranger, expect borders to melt away!
