Thirty-three years ago, back on July 17, 1990, at 08:07 a.m., I reached the summit of Mont Blanc by walking the French normal mountaineering route.Today I remember that day by posting on CAF this important original page of Italian comics.

Mickey's Inferno was the first Disney comic parody made in Italy. The story, in this case a parody of Dante's hell, was published by Mondadori Editore in the periodical TOPOLINO, from no. 7 to no. 12, at the turn of 1949 and 1950. Author of the drawings is Angelo Bioletto, while the screenplay is entrusted to Guido Martina, who also takes care of the captions in verses that accompany the whole story, making it similar to a poem in tercets like Dante's . For this Martina will have mentioned the name in the first cartoon of the first page, which is exceptional given the anonymity in which the authors of the time worked. The role of Dante is obviously entrusted to Mickey Mouse while that of Virgil is entrusted to the shocked Goofy.
In this table, the meeting between Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck, which Martina takes for granted places in the circle of hell where the irascible are punished.

So inspired! This brought literary poetry to comics that is way beyond the normal children's faire expected. It elevated and opened up possibilities for these beloved characters and for the audience.
