DescriptionThis stunning painting by David T. Wenzel features Gandalf and Bilbo Baggins from J.R.R. Tolkien’s The Hobbit. In addition to his popular graphic novel adaptation of The Hobbit, Wenzel’s work includes a nearly decade-long run at Marvel where, from the mid-1970s to the early 1980’s, he worked on such titles as Avengers and Savage Sword of Conan. He penciled part of The Avengers story arc which won a 1979 Eagle Award for Best Continued Story. But it is for his adaptation of The Hobbit, one of the most successful graphic adaptations of classic literature, that he is best known. Painted on high-quality paper, the image area of the painting is 8 by 12 inches (and the paper itself measures 11 by 15 1/4 inches).Social/Sharing |
