Description

One of the main reasons I wanted to attend Galaxycon in Raleigh this year was to finally meet Mirka Andolfo... an Italian artist who flew under my radar for a bit but who, over time, I became a huge fan of. Her art is deceptively simple but when you watch her at work you can see clearly her mastery of the craft. Shes become infamous for writing, drawing and creating several of her own stories whilst still doing work for the big guys, and her unique style and versatility(she can draw ANYTHING) have put her in high demand for commissions and sketches, especially for female characters.

My trip to the con was unfortunately marred by unfortunate circumstances out of my control, in which many of my plans for the con were dashed. However, this one I was determined to see through. I'd thought long and hard about who to request, but Zealot is a classic character who I've recently grown in appreciation for, much like Andolfo. Being a big fan of her design I couldn't shake the feeling it would be a showstopper to have her draw her modern look, and I do believe my instincts were right. Mirka's rendition of the steely eyed eternal warrior is both stunning and fierce, and she even colored in Zannah's iconic red face markings, when I only had paid for a black and white. Its better than I could have imagined.

Funny thing that happened is due to losing track of time, Andolfo and her crew were forced to leave the venue with the sketch, and I had to briefly meet them in the hotel they were staying at to recieve it. While waiting I made a little fanart of one of her characters, Paprika, and she took the picture holding it! Great moment, and a huge thanks to her and crew for making an otherwise difficult weekend a brighter. You've made a lifelong fan.

This is really nice with the wide brushlike marker where it has a wedge for that polished look created on the costume to compliment Andolfo's finer linework.
