Description

George Appel - PLANET COMICS #22 “Star Pirate” Original Art (Fiction House, 1943).

Star Pirate travels to Zev to help the inhabitants against the Dictator of Zev.
The art has an image area of 12" x 18". Reprints in Planet Comics #67
Planet Comics serves as one of the best examples of "Good Girl Art", a movement commonly associated with the Golden Age of Comics in which gorgeous women would often be posed to show off their beauty, which many of the covers show. However, Planet also had stories featuring women as the sole heroine such as Mysta of the Moon or Gale Allen. Other popular stories included "The Space Rangers", "Star Pirate", "Mars, God of War", "The Red Comet" and "The Lost World".

So great with the curls on her hairstyle! Very nice to see interiors to these stories as more and more Golden Age comics will get encapsulated making us wonder if they still had the same kind of artistry as the covers.

Se ciò che distingue un museo da una galleria d'arte è che il primo ospita opere rilevanti anche da un punto di vista storico e documentale, tu puoi ben dire di avere sia l'uno che l'altra 😉 Ottimo pezzo!

Bellissimo pezzo storico, adoro l'epoca d'oro della fantascienza degli anni '40, i mostri alieni, le donne con i boccoli della permanente e i caschi spaziali di vetro! - Beautiful historical piece, I love the golden age of 1940s science fiction, alien monsters, women with perm curls and glass space helmets!

Love this page from Planet Comics! Beautiful work by George Appel in 1943. My favorite panel is the central one featuring the cool design of the rocket ship! Why don't our rocket ships look like that? Fantastic pick-up, congrats!
