DescriptionSo happy to have won my first McFarlane page at auction. Featuring a classic Spider-Man action panel battle Styx and Stone. Signed by Stan Lee. I will wait for a Todd signing appearance and get his signature on this baby as soon as I can. From Comiclink: Todd McFarlane's historic run on Amazing Spider-Man produced some incredible artwork such as this highly detailed half splash page from #309 (1988) featuring the superstar artist's 'McSpidey' in action in all three panels. The opening panel is a nicely illustrated close-up of Spider-Man's head and shoulders. The second panel is an A+ McFarlane Spider-Man image within which our hero strikes a classic McSpidey pose, descending over the panel lines and dropping into the next panel for a 3-D effect. The large, high-impact half splash third panel features Spidey encountering two brand new villains, Styx and Stone making their very first appearance. Styx was a homeless man who partnered with a medical researcher named Gerald Stone. Styx was injected with a mutated cancer compound and ended up becoming a living cancer with the ability to kill organic matter with his touch. Stone, seeking a cure for Styx, built himself some high tech weapons. He partnered with Styx as mercenaries to raise funds. Stone was later transformed into a rock monster, befitting his name. The page is filled with the energy that made McFarlane a huge fan-favorite and one of the most successful artists ever to work in the comic book industry. Signed by Stan Lee. Social/Sharing |

Amazingly hip McFarlane action! These are the gold standard for 90's Spider-Man with three distinctively Todd panels!

An amazing piece for sure. If it were mine I would have asked Stan Lee to sign it in the margin, not over the art!

The only downside to this art is that there is no real margin. The image area is pretty much the entire page. No room for anyone to sign it. Beggars can't be choosers also;)

Wow nice score! Todd was really starting to hit his stride around this time. This page has it all, the pose, the spaghetti-webbing, the cityscape, great shots of those signature eyes he drew.... I'm jealous.
