DescriptionIn the mid-2000s there were rumblings within the sewing circle that Avengers #5 may be coming to market and I was lucky that it came to Mike Burkey, who has been a long-standing friend for many years. This page had been incorrectly put on hold and when I found out it was still available I jumped at the chance. The final panel is absolutely stunning and initially drew me to the page, but the domestic melodrama of Bruce Banner's life has kept my interest for all these years. A "banner" issue for Hulk, and that final panel evokes the cover of Hulk #1. Incredible!

That final panel is still one of the best images of the Hulk by Kirby that I have ever seen, but I'm probably biased in that regard, and the way that it evokes Hulk #1 is really mind-blowing considering it is the start of the origin recap. The book is also the transition to the modern psychological Hulk that has become the staple of the character up until the present day. Thanks so much for the kind words, your friendship has made this hobby that much more pleasurable.

They are incredibly tough to land, especially these days. The next upload is going to up the ante a bit......

beautiful!
I'm really glad you like it, but could you do us all a huge favor and provide a front-on scan/photo of your 2 wonderful Kirby Avengers pages and that out-of-this-world Strange Tales page?????

Yes, that last panel really makes the page. Great early history page of Avengers, congrats!
