Description

Pujolar and his contemporaries would produce art along general themes which was later paired with a book of the publisher's choice, but I don't know whether this "jailer and captive" one made it that far. Pujolar is the subject of the 2020 documentary Pujolar: Los Muertos Aun Recuerdan Su Nombre (The Dead Still Remember His Name). He produced many pieces like this for Bruguera, a major publisher of Spanish comics and pulp novels in the mid 20th century. The most surprising thing is that it is just a little over twelve inches tall, and thus very detailed for that size.

Nice bondage piece! The painted backgrounds have the look of fire coming off the ground and the chains connecting to the carving of this demonic diety adds to the fear of the occult. Dressed in all white and looking directly at you to get her out of this, this is a classic set up in the genre.
