I really like the angle he chose for Supes. Like a Super Selfie! The shading is especially nice, adding a lot of depth. Really nice work by Newell. Super!

Other than a little clean up, this sketch is as complete as it gets. The face and the symbol are all that's needed for Superman to be universally recognized and Newell's lighting does the job.

The artist's understanding of lighting is obvious and all of the brush strokes are purposeful as opposed to many sketches that suffer from over rendering. The cropping makes it look like Kal El is taking a selfie.
