DescriptionTRON character concept design sketch by Jean "Moebius" Giraud (1938-2012). Concept art is a form of illustration used to convey an idea for use in films and animation, before it is put into the final product. Simply put, concept art is the visual evolution from an idea to the final product. The term "concept art" was first used by Walt Disney in the early 1930s and has been a critical part of the film making process ever since. Moebius was a conceptual artist for TRON's electronic world and electronic designs. Under his own name, he co-created the legendary western comic "Blueberry" using the shortened signature of "Gir" for this series. As Moebius, he was one of the most innovative and influential comic artists of the 20th century, known for groundbreaking science-fiction and fantasy films like James Cameron's The Abyss (1989) and TRON. The illustrations come to auction from the Ellenshaw family archives. Harrison Ellenshaw served as associate producer and visual effects supervisor with sister Lynda working as assistant scene coordinator. Measuring 9" x 5" and 5" x 9".Social/Sharing |

Very cool seeing something like this. Not the finished Moebius we usually see but all the genius is there in the lines and design.

Even more detail in this piece showing the melding of mind and technology. Perhaps Moebius came back from the future or it's just his imagination to where he projects mankind to wind up in the future.
