DescriptionOriginal artwork for Spectre Vol. 1 #2 (DC, 1968), page 6 by the legendary Neal Adams (pencils and inks). From the ghostly tale entitled, "Die, Spectre -- Again!" Written by the great Gardner Fox, this tale featured the awesome Spectre - "that Ghostly Guardian of Goodness, He who fights evil and injustice across the world" against stage magician Dirk Rawley, who, while performing on stage before a mesmerized audience that provided a perfect alibi, his "Etheric Self" (psychic manifestation or spirit counterpart of his physical body) was simultaneously committing crimes elsewhere in Gateway City.This scene depicts the very first time in which the Spectre confronts and engages Dirk Rawley's evil essence in a museum, highlighted with outstanding full images of the Spectre, a great close-up and multiple battle-action shots. In short, the Spectre in every panel of this wonderful page, which represents Adams' very first work on the character. One of the greatest Golden-Age superheroes, beautifully illustrated by, perhaps, the greatest artist in the history of comicdom. Special thank you to Ken Rogers for selling me this beauty! Hard to find more Spectre on a single page than this! Even at first glance there's no mistaking who the artist is on this gem and I can't think of a more fitting collection for this piece to reside in.
