VERNON GREENE - Shadow Daily Comic Strip Original Art (Ledger Syndicate, 1941)
Lamont Cranston (The Shadow) - Margo Lane - Shiwan Khan.

The Shadow is a fictional character created to be a mysterious radio show narrator. The Shadow has been adapted into other forms of media, including comic books, comic strips, serials, video games, and at least five feature films. The Shadow has been adapted for comics a number of times during his long history; his first was on June 1940, as a syndicated daily newspaper comic strip offered through the Ledger Syndicate. The strip was illustrated by Vernon Greene. The comic strip, which ran until 1942, comprised 14 stories, the last of which was left uncompleted.
This strip is published in the story The Shadow vs. Shiwan Khan (April - July, 1941), these strips are very rare, only two years published.

Il personaggio "The Shadow" è nato agli inizi degli anni ’30 come voce di un programma radiofonico della CBS, narrava i racconti presi dalla rivista Detective Story. L’enorme successo portò all’inevitabile adattamento a fumetti sottoforma di striscia quotidiana pubblicata da Ledger Syndicate a partire dal 1940 fino al 1942. I disegni furono realizzati da Vernon Greene. La striscia comprendeva in totale 14 storie, l'ultima delle quali rimase incompiuta, l’originale in mio possesso fa parte della sesta storia dal titolo “L'Ombra contro Shiwan Khan” (21 aprile - 26 luglio 1941).
Tutte le storie furono raccolte nel 1988 su Crime Classics per 13 numeri editi dalla Malibu/Eternity.
Le daily strip originali di “The Shadow” sono molto rare, non solo perché pubblicate per un periodo limitato di due anni, ma alcune strisce furono tagliate e rimontate per il formato comic book di “Shadow Comics”, altra serie durata ben 101 numeri.
Area di immagine 65 cm su cartoncino di 75 cm, disegno realizzato a china, matita blu e retino applicato.

Biernat era una figura importante nel mondo dei fumetti. Era l'ex proprietario del negozio Dragon Lady Comic a Toronto e anche il proprietario della Dragon Lady Press che ristampò i fumetti classici a metà degli anni '80 contribuendo al salvataggio di molte opere originali.

It should be pretty obvious to the commissioner what you can do with a motor, a bathysphere, and some rotating fans.
