DescriptionOriginal artwork for Rima the Jungle Girl #6 (DC, 1975), page 7 by the late great Nestor Redondo (pencils and inks). From the story entitled "Safari of Death," written by seasoned scribe Robert Kanigher. This scene features Trask and one of his henchmen named Bridger who holds Abel in a iron head lock, cutting off his oxygen in order to force him to reveal the secrets and location of Rima the Jungle Girl. The lower two-thirds splash panel is especially impressive as the wild jungle creatures look down upon man's cruel inhumanity to one another in woeful silence. This wonderful shot seems to be a homage to the age-old fabled Garden of Eden as Kanigher writes, "Hidden in the thick foliage, the jungle creatures silently watch man's humanity to man...a cruelty that far surpasses their own animal impulses."Rima art is rare and seldom offered on the open market. These pages are a vivid and lasting testament to the remarkable talent of Nestor Redondo, who was one of the most gifted artists to emerge in the comic book market place during the 1970's.
