DescriptionIt’s easy to see the prompt “Heartbroken” and let your mind go to the death of Bruce’s parents. Instead, Scott chooses another painful moment from Bruce’s life by going with the death of Jason Todd. The drybrush texture really amplifies the aftermath of the fire smoldering around them while also allowing the heavy, dark inks of Batman’s silhouette to grab the eye by dominating the image. I love that Scott chose to angle this from behind, as the hints of hair, cape and Robin’s legs are more than enough to create the necessary emotion. And check out the image Scott posted to Instagram, which includes digital gray tones to highlight Bats even more against the white of the moon. Social/Sharing |

Great take with memberberries of Death in the Family. It works with or without tone as the stark contrast pulls your focus in even without the circle frame.
