Description

This is my second round with Spiral for the Mystery Sketch event, having previously obtained a fun version of her by Bill Morrison in his Simpsons style. As originally imagined by Art Adams and Ann Nocenti, the slaves of Mojoverse, including Longshot and Spiral, have only three fingers on each hand, like their creator Arize. However, a later retcon claimed that she was originally human, and she's often depicted with four fingered human hands. This piece splits the difference with two three-fingers hands and four four-fingered hands.

She's always good for a dynamic pose, and Singapore-based Elvin Ching went the extra mile by depicting Mojo's leering rictus behind her, plus plenty of arcane arcs. I understand from this piece's unboxing debut on Comic Art Live that the choice of artist for this subject involved some haggling among the Next Comic Art roster. Per his biography, "Elvin has written and drawn for the Eisner Nominated anthology LIQUID CITY from Image Comics and is the creator of the graphic novel THE WOODSMAN."

That's a winner here with the extra Mojo going for it! All those swords and curls form a frame around her upper body for us to focus upon.
