There are so many wonderful people in this hobby. We had a holiday gift exchange with a small group of collectors and I received this piece from my friend, Jill (Wonder FingWoman on CAF). It's beyond perfect!

The only comic I may love more than X-Men is Calvin and Hobbes, and this captures the essence of both IPs beautifully! It is instantly one of my favorite pieces in my collection. Sincere thank you, Jill!

It's always the little red headed girl, isn't it? The background watercolors by Hennemann are an enhanced version of the Watterson colors he did for covers of his collected editions.

It was great seeing the reveal of this yesterday. Not only is it a fun piece but the look on your face showed exactly how shocked you were.

The piece itself is equally incredible. It's a fun mash-up of a few of the best parts of my childhood.

What a piece! Calvin & Co. have made such a huge impression on all of us (and the strip's visual vocabulary has become -so- ingrained into our brain's) that it's easy sometimes to overlook the artistic feat of creating a Watterson tribute that looks so -right-. Not only is this wonderful piece filled to overflowing with the unmistakable C&H charm, but that insane tree trunk and canopy are -SO- perfect... It's not from a Watterson Sunday, but from a frontspiece (or bonus story) he would add as an "extra" to one of the books, right? What a STUNNING gift, James, and it's easy to see why this peanut butter cup combo of Great and Awesome Things would leap to the top of your favorites list. Congrats!!
