DescriptionMy wife and I just fell in love with this cover when we first saw it! We hardly knew who he was and what other pieces he had done, but decided to buy this just on a "whim" at SDCC.When we got home from the Con, I decided to look up his name in the CAF archives, and like "Wow",this guy is really talented!I've seen very few artists who really push the envelope on comosition, color, content and value on their pieces,so to speak. As a matter of fact the first person I ever showed this to, was none other than Bill Cox, who we just met for the first and only time at SDCC 2022,"Nuff Said".Social/Sharing |

Scalera's got some of the most uniquely stylized takes on characters AND multi-character compositions, and then throw in colors?! Forget about it. What a prime example. Hard to top as a Scalera example, no doubt! Big congrats!

Great symmetrical composition! The colors are kept simple and glows to emphasize the purposeful graphic quality of it.

Missed seeing this posted since Scalera wasn't tagged, but his color work is phenomenal, and his use of reds here is a prime example of that. Huge congrats on this cover!

Wow! I don't know how I missed seeing this cover earlier, but it's absolutely stunning! The composition is fantastic and the drawing is spectacular, but I think what really makes it unique is Matteo's used of red throughout the piece. Limiting the art to simple red and black makes it standout in a sea of 4 color cover. It gives the art a unity, a common denomenator that pulls all the disparate characters together. Red is the color of blood, of rage, of shame and of courage. And all those emotions are here in this cover in the myriad scenes depicted. With this cover, Matteo really demonstrates that he is a master of comic art.
