Description

An interesting 1971 painting that represents a slight head-scratcher; it's either an unusually detailed and large (about 14" x 19")prelim or, and I think this is more likely, a rejected version intended as a final. Note from the included pic that this and the published cover are almost identical, the only real differences being the woman's pose and slightly more complex traceries around her.

Looks like she's becoming one with the monster, with only the color to distinguish her from it as you move to the right. Very cool!

It's funny, cuz this is one of my favorite Freas pieces I've ever seen!

Probably rejected version based on the size and airbrushing. Very bizarre in a good way!

Yeah, maybe the shape was wrong. KF thought it was going to be a full bleed cover but instead they wanted a squarer image for the layout.
