Description

From another time (November 1971) & place (New York City). The painted cover to Cracked Magazine #97 by John Severin. The series began with the Issue #1 being published in February 1958. America in the 1970's: Woodstock took place in upstate NY 27 months prior to Cracked #97's publication date. M*A*S*H* premiered 10 months after. Apollo 17 (the last trip to the Moon took place 13 months later). America pulled out of Vietnam 16 months after. JAWS was released in June 1975. Microsoft & Apple were founded within 12 months of each other. Star Wars debuted in May 1977.

Really nice as Cracked shares an environmental image for the early 70's! Urban blight was taking shape in NYC during that time period and the importance and fragility of nature was put into the spotlight by the environmentalist movement.
