DescriptionSwamp Thing #8, the last, complete ST story Wrightson penciled and inked (Jeff Jones got involved with inking issue #9) and also the first glimpse of M'Nagalah.A look at the master’s creative process. As someone noted elsewhere, Wrightson’s prelims for Swamp Thing are more finished than other artists’ finished pencils. A large thank you to Liz who was on-the-spot and honest and kind. It's great storytelling planned out! Even without dialogue, you get the raw emotions of love and sadness mixed in with the angry mob from your classic Frankenstein tales.

I love seeing Bernie Wrightson's preliminary sketches for Swamp Thing #8! I love looking at the sketches that Bernie drew as he tried to figure out how he wanted to lay out the page! To me, looking at these sketches is almost like looking over Bernie's shoulder in his studio. It's eyeopening to see him working out where he wanted closeups and where he wanted medium shots and long shots. And then watching as he decides what angle each scene should be viewed from. Clearly his process is slow and careful, each choice is made deliberately. I'm in awe of Bernie's phenomenal talent and this page makes me even more in awe, if that's possible. Amazing pick-up, sincere congrats!
