Description

This is Geof Isherwood's design for the Infinity War Evil Hulk character sheet. Back in 1991/92 Isherwood was asked to draw several doppelgänger designs for the new Infinity Wars series while he was still in the Marvel Offices in NYC. He was given some direction on what to draw and then he ran wild with the final designs.

Geof stated, "I was at Marvel seeing editors and such and was asked to draw these three-views. It’s probable I finished them at home since they were inked with India ink." These were created as character design guides for all the artists working on this major crossover series, which ran in Captain America, Doctor Strange, Fantastic Four, Silver Surfer, Infinity War, and others.

It pays off to have great friends in this crazy hobby. I wasn't able to attend OAX this year so I have to thank my friend Jason D'Ambrosio for cluing me into a set of great design art that Geof Isherwood unearthed and brought to OAX 2024. Isherwood noted these design pieces have been in his studio since he drew them in the 90's! I was lucky enough to pick these up directly from Isherwood.

So cool that he still had these from back when he first did Infinity War! Really loved the entire Infinity Saga. The king of design art does it again! These make for a wonderful addition to the collection.

Probably Isherwood at his most controlled artistry with the exact inking needed to remain consistent through all three images of this turnaround. You can feel the tree trunks holding up all that angry weight!

What I like best about these is that they actually appear to look like they were inked over Sal Buscema's pencils, especially the figure on the left.
