DescriptionThis original cover art may not mean much to many, but it means the world to me. I remember Archer & Armstrong and Eternal Warrior by Valiant being the books that stood out to me most when the super hero meta ran it’s course in my weekly readings. The unlikely pair on an adventure with one who’s numb from existence paired with a naive pastors kid who’s just learning about the world inspired my life more than I know. I grew up in the church (my father is a pastor) but went out to adventure the world as soon as I turned 15, meeting and adventuring with unlikely companions forming who I am today. I have to give @barrywindsorsmith a lot of credit for how my life turned out from his story and art in Archer & Armstrong. Now to hold the original art to their first appearance in my hands is nothing short of a dream come true. Gotta Thank God. Today is a Good Day. Social/Sharing |

I remember being a kiddo and hanging out at my local comic shop asking about the latest massive Marvel crossover event. The owners guided me to the rack where Marvel and DC were located then kept moving down the line. "Listen, Kid, if you want to eat bubble gum all day, by all means, stick to your Marvel, but if you want real story telling, let me show you Valiant Comics."
While I never wavered for my love of Marvel, that moment turned me on to a whole new world of comic story-telling. I this era of Valiant, and this is one of the most memorable covers from that time.
Congrats on a great pickup, and happy birthday! Hope you have a great day of celebration ahead!

What a story! I had a similar experience but it was two kids who was in deep conversation pointing at this cover saying how it was one of the best reads they had in a long time.
I picked it off the shelf and was completely blown away. Not to mention how the trademark BWS pulled off what I think was one of his purest creations to date.

HUGE congrats, my friend! This stuff made such an impact on us in our formative years and to grab such an personally influential piece from the time? Can't be beat. Oh, and it's BWS :) So clearly his work when you see it. I'm not familiar with the book or story, but doesn't mean I can't appreciate some great lookin' OA, and obviously in the right home.

#0 issue is the first issue of the series and this BWS image is ingrained in price guides and in the minds of those with long boxes of them! It's a good thing that it's a great image by BWS. Exciting times for comics and Valiant's success showed the strength of the market.

So many great artists in the history of the medium, but few are true Masters. Congrats on adding not only a wonderful artistic example, but one that has such deep personal meaning.

Wow! Fabulous cover to Barry Windsor-Smith's Archer & Armstrong! A splendid example of the incredible linework BWS is famous for! BWS had a lot of fun with this book, it's too bad it never quite caught on. But it was great while it lasted. I loved BWS's work on the title and enjoyed reading it. I'm glad you enjoyed it as well. Very cool that you've picked up this stunning cover art to the very first issue! Congrats!

A&A! My favourite Valiant title! Not only did it have that great, tight storytelling that was a hallmark of Valiant, not only did it have amazing art by BWS, it was just plain, laugh out loud funny. I always had a smile on my face every time I put down an issue. Congrats on owning such a great piece of Valiant history!
