Description

Howard Chaykin recently completed his Time^2 trilogy, available now in a gorgeous omnibus edition. Not long before that came out, Bill Cox (thanks Bill!) hosted one of his periodic art sales, and this piece really sang for me. Howard's work is always stylish and energetic, but he put a bit extra into these two figures if you ask me. To complete the look and feel of what makes his comics work so distinctive, I asked legendary letterer and Chaykin's long-time collaborator Ken Bruzenak to add his signature design work to it. I think the results could easily have been a lost cover from the series, and I've already picked out a spot on my wall for this when its back from framing.

Great score! Lovely piece that really does look like it could be a cover from any one of the volumes. Love that Bruzenak also contributed to it. To me, his contributions to Howard's work were essential.

Time capsule of Chaykin art that looks like his work from the mid 80's. Even more so with the Bruzenak background collage of graphic elements. Chaykin's stylish take of the jazz age and the fashions of the big city party.
