Description

"The Dead Draftees of Regiment Six!" by Michael Fleisher and Russell Carley. 16th page of the 18-page story.

The mob seizes the abolitionist sister of one of the vengeful ghosts and prepares to hang an African-American. The half splash depicts the gruesome riot in full force.

"What had started as ghostly vengeance had become transformed into one of the most disastrous riots in American history, as angry mobs burned buildings, fought the police and the militia, and hanged innocent blacks and abolitionists from the highest lampposts..."

There aren't enough ghosts for these guys. All they had to do was to say they got bone spurs and be exempt. Jose Luis Garcia Lopez is a force here courageously bringing a dark time in history to the page.
