Description

"North of the Yukon" is one of the best stories of the 1960s written and illustrated by Barks.The story is important because it features for the first time an important " villain ", the character of Soapy Slick, a crooked moneylender encountered by Scrooge in his youth during the Gold Rush .
Don Rosa many years later will be inspired by some panels of this page by Barks ( which tell of Scrooge�s debt paid to Soapy ), to propose again Soapy Slick in his saga � The life and times of Scrooge McDuck" in the 9th chapter "The Billionaire of Dismal Downs" (see Additional Image and my CAF gallery dedicated to Don Rosa), as Scrooge's main enemy at the time of the Klondike.

Created in ink on graphite on two sheets of Bristol cardboard with a combined image area of approximately 16" x 23.25".
Signed by Barks in the lower right corner, below the last panel.
Published in " UNCLE SCROOGE " #59, September 1965

Auctioned by Heritage in 2010.
