DescriptionThis is a Deadpool page that describes the origin of the Baseball Furies from the Warriors movie of 1978.There's a ton of Deadpool art out there, and I find most of the storylines entertaining -- only Elvira stories seem to approach Deadpool inaneness. So you gotta be a bit more choosy on what Deadpool you pick up. I thought the Killustrated story and the Deadpool Kills the Marvel Universe story were memorable enough for me to pick up. But this one called to me -- a throwback to the 1970s, Deadpool with an afro, Luke Cage talking Blaxploitation-level jive, and Deadpool interfacing with the Baseball Furies of the contemporaneous Warriors movie. So of course, I had to pick it up. In a previous page (posted below), Deadpool beats up a team of softball players who painted up their faces to go to a KISS concert (stay with me guys). When they see Deadpool later in the story, they beat him up with baseball bats and declare their intent to form a gang of baseball guys, who wear makeup, beat up people on their turf, and don't speak (which is exactly how they are portrayed in the Warriors Movie). "..act like scary mimes with baseball bats!" Haven't seen another comic detail the Baseball Furies origin, so I guess this is it! Note that in the inked version, the Furies have their trademark makeup on, but in the colored version they have yet to don their makeup regimen. Social/Sharing |
