Description

Cover painted by Enric Torres-Prat, also known as Enrique Torres or Enrich, for the Spanish edition of SPIDERMAN VOL.1 N°6 published by Vértice in 1970. It is titled "Mysterio!" and its USA content corresponds to The Amazing Spider-Man Vol.1 #13 -14.
Enrich's covers today are impossible to obtain due to their scarcity and rarity. In this series he only painted 5 covers of the 59 that made up the collection, specifically numbers 1, 2, 4, 5 and 6. And this cover, in fact, would be the last one he did for Spider-Man of VERTICE, passing the baton as cover artist to Rafael López Espí. Needless to say, it is the most iconic image of Spiderman's mask for the children of the 70s in Spain who never had access to the original US material. Curiously, among the very scarce merchandising that was made at the time, some cardboard "masks" were made with this peculiar style marking the features of the face of the wallcrawler, and fortunately we keep a copy (see attached photos).

Las singulares portadas de Enrich hoy día son imposibles de conseguir debido a su escasez y rareza. En esta serie solo pintó 5 portadas de las 59 que componía la colección, concretamente de los números 1, 2, 4, 5 y 6. Y esta portada, de hecho, sería la última que realizó para Spiderman de Vértice, pasando el testigo como portadista a Rafael Lopez Espí. Ni que decir tiene que es la imagen de la máscara del Hombre Araña más icónica para los niños de los 70’s en España que nunca pudieron acceder al material original USA. Curiosamente entre el escasísimo merchandising que se hacía en la época, se realizaron unas “caretas” de cartón con este estilo tan peculiar marcando las facciones de la cara del Trepamuros, y del que afortunadamente guardamos un ejemplar (ver fotos adjuntas).

Con esta portada por fín queda cerrada mi colección de Vértice de Spider-Man.

Menudo tesoro. No solo es una portada estéticamente bella sino que también es icónica, mítica y un puntazo de originalidad "trepamuriana".

Deberías (casi como obligación moral "parkeriana") enmarcarla y tenerla en un lugar destacado de tu casa o despacho. Disfruta de semejante maravilla. Enhorabuena.

Enrique with the pre Espi cover, reminiscent of the webbing effeect on the Avengers 11 cover. Very hard to find as mentioned, but somehow you did it my friend. A big congratulations!
