Description

First and foremost: The pencils for this one were done by legendary comic book artist Jack Kirby who is my all time favorite comic book artist. Conan the Barbarian is one of my favorite characters in both comics and fiction, so when I found one of the few pictures of this character that Kirby ever penciled in an old issue of The Jack Kirby Collector, I knew I simply had to not only ink it, but give it the full color treatment as well! In the inking, there are places where I stayed ultra-true to the pencils bordering on tracing, areas where I tightened/cleaned it up a little and a few areas that are all me. For the colors, I tried to keep it "comic booky" but also tried to play with the textures for all the different surfaces. This was inked and colored in Photoshop using a Huion GT191 Digital Pen Display. I would have loved to have seen an entire issue of Conan illustrated by Kirby and inked by Mike Royer.
