Description

Every few years I read Sandman from start to finish. The last time around I read it a saw a scene in Seasons of Mists (issue 27) that I thought would make a great single image commission.

Dream, as drawn by Kelley Jones & Dick Giordano, having successfully dealt with the demon Azazel, places him in a chest also featuring the skull of the first Corinthian and a certain city in a bottle...see the additional image.

I've been trying to think of the right artist for a while that would do the piece right, and then the opportunity to get Jae came up. Perfection.

It really did come out great, man. Love the design, and you got those feathery brush strokes in spades. Perfect character subject to get the Jae Lee treatment. Congrats!

Jae has the energy from the 1990's and the refinement of the 2020's in his style to pull this off perfectly. All the supernatural mysteries of Sandman all encapsulated in fear and delight.

Wowza! Stunning Sandman commission by Jae Lee! Sandman is the perfect subject for Lee, considering how ethereal his art always is! In this commission, Lee proves my point, creating a powerful Sandman figure locking away the demon Azazel in a chest alongside the skull of the first Corinthian and a city in a bottle. Great commmission, congrats!
