Not picked up any new art for a while and when I went to Lawless 2024 this week (May 24) I was meant to be good. There was so much amazing art there however. I managed to resist getting more Simon Fraser or Dan Cornwell. Fought off temptation when it came to getting a first Keith Burns, when it came to Simon Davis' glorious Thistlebone pieces, well I broke.

Somehow managed to get it down to a final two options to buy on the second day of the con (having missed out on some stella pieces friends picked up) and in the end asked Simon to make the final called and he said he enjoyed working on this page a lot.

It captures so much, the atmosphere and textures in the pub. That look across the bar. The expressive conversation. The composition and the way the eye is moved across the page all amazing. But its the red eyes on the dog that really win the day let's be honest. Such a cool story point on such a stunning page.

I'm so happy to finally have a Simon Davis page and while I'm still after a Sinister Dexter there could be few I'm as happy to have picked up as this one!

Really nice atmosphere of the working class blue collar bar where the more flaboyant colors and fashion really sticks out. Demon dog drooling is all of us looking around at the environment that Davis paints.
