DescriptionMatt Fraction's twelve issue series took Wanda around the world to figure out why magic was broken. In this issue, she tussles with a minotaur on the picturesque Aegean island of Santorini. It's an ancient volcano which exploded, leaving a crescent-shaped cliff on which the modern city is built. It's also the home of Akrotiri, an excavated town from 1700BC. My wife and I visited the island for our twentieth anniversary, so it was obvious from these pages that Marco Rudy had not only studied his reference material closely but then replicated it meticulously. That top panel with the gulls is so beautiful, and the splashes of red throughout the page make a striking contrast with the blue ocean and sky. Social/Sharing |
