Description

Original Art (DC, 1981). This explosive page includes a Kubert-style boost for the solid pencils-and-inks team of Ayers and Randall. Kubert, as editor of the book and himself acknowledged as the definitive Sgt. Rock artist, is reliably considered to have applied some re-drawing, here -- evident in patched-in art corrections in four panels. Ink over graphite on Bristol board, with an image area of 10" x 15". Slight toning, with trimmed corners. In Very Good condition.

It certainly has a Kubert finish with his crosshatching and nitty gritty grime of war. Ayers is a vet in life and in drawing war comics and Randall was a Kubert School graduate, so heavy influence is seen in the war genre.
