Description

This house ad appeared in MIGHTY CRUSADERS # 1. The page seems odd in a way, because it seemingly introduces readers to a new group of "ultra heroes," even though the same cast of characters had been assembled months earlier in FLY-MAN # 31 and had been seen many times thereafter, including the very comic in which the ad appeared! It is also not an especially good Paul Reinman page artistically. Still, I love having this promotional page in my collection for two reasons. First, it features all five of the Mighty Crusaders team: Fly-Man, Fly-Girl, The Black Hood, The Comet, and The Shield. Second, it highlights some modifications to the characters that were presumably intended to make the characters more interesting. Fly-Man and Fly-Girl, for example, could only use their special powers for one hour each day -- that was a limitation not imposed upon them previously. The Black Hood has a robot steed, Nightmare! Where did this thing come from? And, in the last panel, The Shield teleports onto the scene. When did he ever have the ability to teleport? Comments on this page are welcome.
